Accredited Online RSA Training Approved by Liquor Control Victoria
For those who are unable to attend our CBD campus, delivery of the RSA course is also conducted through a virtual classroom. This online course has been approved by Liquor Control Victoria (LCV).
To undertake this training, you will require the following:

IMPORTANT UPDATE
As of 01 December 2025, in Victoria, you need an RSA Certificate of Completion to work in many licensed venues. To receive your RSA Certificate of Completion, you must complete the following:
- Complete an LCV-approved RSA course with Complete Hospitality Training
- Complete the Sexual Harassment and Assault: Recognise, Prevent and Respond (additional online module) with LCV directly.

RSA Online – Frequently Asked Questions
The RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate is a qualification required by law for anyone serving, selling or offering alcohol in Australia. It ensures that individuals understand the legal responsibilities and best practices for serving alcohol responsibly.
If you want to work in any bar, club, café, restaurant, or venue that sells alcohol in Victoria (including liquor stores and bottle shops), you will need a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate accredited by Liquor Control Victoria (LCV). Our RSA course in Melbourne’s CBD is approved by Liquor Control Victoria (LCV).
You can obtain an RSA certificate by completing our accredited RSA training course either online or in person. Upon successful completion, you will receive your RSA certificate.
At CHT, we offer both online and in-person RSA courses accredited by Liquor Control Victoria. Our online class is helpful if you are not located close to our Melbourne CBD training classroom. For both online and in-person RSAs, you will need to undertake an assessment which is completed online in our learning management system, as well as skills demonstrations.
The RSA is valid for three years in Victoria. To avoid disruptions to your employment and legal consequences, it's crucial to keep your RSA certification up to date by renewing it before the end of the three years. In Victoria, to renew your RSA, you will need to complete a refresher course with Liquor Control Victoria. In Australia, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements can vary by state and territory. After completing the RSA with CHT, you will receive two certificates:
- Liquor Control Victoria RSA certificate – required by all establishments in Victoria.
- Nationally recognised unit of competence - SITHFAB021 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol. This certificate is accepted in all states of Australia except NSW. In NSW, you will need to complete their local bridging course to get their state-specific competency card.
The RSA training covers topics such as legal responsibilities, recognising intoxicated patrons, strategies to refuse service, handling difficult situations, and understanding the effects of alcohol on the body.
At CHT, the in-person RSA is $50, and the online RSA is $50.
Yes, you can complete the RSA online in a virtual classroom with CHT. We are approved by Liquor Control Victoria to deliver RSA training.
If you lose your RSA certificate, you can obtain a replacement copy from Liquor Control Victoria. You can call them on 1300 182 457 or email contact@liquor.vic.gov.au.

Our in-person RSA course runs for six hours (excluding breaks). During this time, participants receive face-to-face instruction, engage in discussions, and complete assessments. You then have seven days from the date of the course to complete your assessment. If you require more time, you can pay $20 for an extension.
You will receive your certificate within three business days after being deemed competent in your assessment.
To be eligible to receive your national unit of competency and Liquor Control Victoria certificate upon successful completion of the course, you must be a minimum of 15 years old at commencement of the course. You must be 18 years and over to serve, sell or supply alcohol in Australia.
As the course is delivered in English, and assessments are conducted in English, learners must have the ability to read, write, and understand English to ensure successful completion.
You have seven days from the date of the course to complete your assessment. If you require more time, you can pay $20 for an extension.
If you are marked as not yet competent for the course, you will be able to return to the school and resit the course at no extra charge.
