HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the minimum requirement for workplace first aid compliance.
In this course, you will learn the skills and knowledge to respond to and manage first aid incidents, providing care until qualified emergency help arrives.
Aligned with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, it combines online and face-to-face training. This course is ideal for anyone looking to confidently handle first aid situations.
What You Will Learn

- Recognising and assessing emergency situations
- Ensuring safety for self, bystanders, and casualty
- Performing CPR according to ARC guidelines
- Providing first aid according to established principles
- Managing casualties respectfully and obtaining consent
- Using resources and equipment to make the casualty comfortable
- Monitoring and responding to casualty conditions
- Accurately conveying details to emergency services
- Completing incident reports and maintaining confidentiality
- Contributing to post-incident reviews
- Recognising psychological impacts on rescuers and seeking help
Assessment
This is a blended learning experience with e-Learning + face-to-face classroom training and assessment.
CHT utilises competency-based assessment to demonstrate that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by nationally recognised standards. To achieve competence in this course you will need to complete a written assessment and a skills demonstration through a scenario-based assessment.
Factors to Consider:
Assessment requires students to demonstrate at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor. If you have any limitations that may affect your ability to complete the course, please contact us before booking.
Course Duration
Self-paced e-Learning: Up to 6 hours
Face-to-face training and assessment: 4 hours
NB. Students need to complete their e-Learning before attending the face-to-face session. The e-Learning can be done in one sitting or spread over several sessions.
Certification
A Statement of Attainment will be emailed to you upon you successfully completing the training and assessment for the following unit of competency:

Safe Work Australia recommends renewing your first aid certifications (HLTAID011) every 3 years.
Entrance Requirements / Pre-requisites
- Learners must be 14 years of age and over at the time of course commencement.
- There are no pre-requisite units for this course, however, as the course is delivered in, and assessments are conducted in English, learners must have the ability to read, write, and understand English to ensure successful completion.
If you require a translator or interpreter to assist you, please note that you must enrol in our face-to-face First Aid course.
