Complete Hospitality Training (CHT) have recently been receiving a high volume of calls from students, with no previous Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training, who have completed a non-accredited online RSA training course. These students have been led to believe that this course qualifies them to work in licensed premises in Victoria.
Unfortunately, this is not the case. In order to serve alcohol in licensed premises in Victoria, the course must be approved by Liquor Control Victoria (LCV). The LCV state that “face-to-face RSA training is mandatory for licensees and staff selling, offering or serving liquor for general, on-premises, late night and packaged liquor licences. It gives participants the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to a safe, enjoyable environment in licensed premises.” The LCV further state that once face-to-face RSA training has been completed, you “will then need to complete the approved RSA online refresher course every three years.” A list of training providers approved by LCV to deliver the RSA program can be found via this link: https://www.vcglr.vic.gov.au/sites/default/files/rto_web_listing_20_september_2019_list.xls
CHT are approved by LCV to deliver the face-face RSA program. If you, or anyone you know, have completed the non-accredited online RSA training course, CHT will offer you a place in one of our face-to-face RSA training courses at a discounted price. To be eligible for this offer we will require evidence in the form of the certificate you received upon completion and proof of the amount paid for the online RSA training course. We would also strongly encourage you to lodge a complaint with LCV who can be contacted on 1300 182 457 and Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) who can be contacted on 1300 558 181.
