Course Information - Bartending
Complete Hospitality Training’s (CHT’s) Melbourne bartending course will equip you with the skills and the confidence you need to get that bar job you have been looking for. The course will cover everything you need to know, from pouring beers to tapping kegs to making cocktails and providing outstanding customer service.
Our bartending course also includes your Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate which is the only qualification you need to legally serve alcohol in Victoria.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
As of 01 December 2025, in Victoria, you need an RSA Certificate of Completion to work in many licensed venues. To receive your RSA Certificate of Completion, you must complete the following:
- Complete an LCV-approved RSA course with Complete Hospitality Training
- Complete the Sexual Harassment and Assault: Recognise, Prevent and Respond (additional online module) with LCV directly

Are you eligible for a Government Subsidy?
Government funding is not available for the standalone Bartending course; however, you might want to consider doing our Government funded* Certificate IV in Hospitality (SIT40422), which includes Bartending amongst other subjects.
If you are an Australian citizen (or permanent resident) you may be eligible for this subsidised course.

The cost of the bartending course at CHT is currently $495.
The bartending course typically takes 2 weeks to complete. You can either do this across 4 days or 8 evenings.
You have up to six months to complete the bartending course, allowing flexibility for students who may need additional time.
If you’re not yet competent on completion of the bartending course at CHT, you will be given the opportunity to retake the assessment or tasks.
A basic understanding of English is required for the course, as it is conducted in this language. This ensures you can follow instructions and engage effectively during the training.
For any online components or resources provided by CHT, you will need a stable internet connection and a computer or tablet with a web browser.
While it is possible to access some online course materials on a smartphone, we recommend using a computer or tablet for the best learning experience.
CHT offers the bartending course in person only, as only practical training will allow you to learn how to bartend. There is an online assessment.
Yes, you need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to enrol in and complete this nationally recognised bartending training at CHT.
The minimum age requirement to commence the bartending course at CHT is 17 years old. The legal age for serving alcohol is 18.
To become a bartender in Victoria, you should complete a bartending course like the one offered at CHT.
People must complete the RSA Course within one month from the date they first supply liquor.
A person under the age of 18 can complete the RSA training but must wait until they are 18 to serve alcohol.
